Sandakan Memorial Park

The Memorial Park saw the death of around 2400 Australian and British prisoners of war held by the Japanese in the Sandakan POW camp, within the sight of Allied triumph in the Pacific war.


Sandakan Memorial Park is carefully maintained and aesthetically planted, which makes it perfect for lonely soul-searching strolls
 

Special monuments - Anzac Day (25 April) and Sandakan Day Memorial (15 August) are honoured yearly in this park.
